Description
The increasing use of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components in space systems brings clear benefits in terms of cost efficiency and faster deployment but also introduces new cybersecurity challenges.
This activity focuses on independent security testing of commercial SATCOM terminals and related space communication protocols such as DVB and 5G NTN.
Through targeted vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, the project will identify potential weaknesses and evaluate how resilient these systems are to cyber threats. The outcome will establish a baseline for standardized security testing practices tailored to COTS components in space applications — helping to strengthen trust, reliability, and resilience in future satellite communications.
