We’re excited to share a recent publication by NIS contributing to advancements in smarter and safer railway systems.
A new journal article titled “The Use of Earth Observation Data for Railway Infrastructure Monitoring—A Review” has been published in Infrastructures (March 2025, Volume 10, Issue 3). The paper brings together insights from researchers Milan Banic, Danijela Ristic-Durrant, Milos Madic, Alina Klapper, Milan Trifunovic, Milos Simonovic, and Szabolcs Fischer.
The study explores how Earth Observation data—such as satellite imagery—can be used to monitor railway infrastructure. This technology has the potential to improve maintenance, detect risks earlier, and enhance overall safety and efficiency in rail transport.
